What is hosting?
Your website has to exist on a computer somewhere, a computer that is on and available on the internet 24/7. This is a server. It will have a fast connection to the internet to allow as many people to see your website as needed.
There are many website hosting providers around but we can provide this service so you don't have to trawl the internet yourself.
How does it work?
You need to choose a name for your website called a domain name (e.g. marciac-informatique.com). This is the name that people type into their browser to view your website, usually with 'www.' in front.
You can also have email using the server too, so that people can email 'email@example.com' or 'firstname.lastname@example.org'. The advantage of this is that it doesn't depend on your internet provider. If you change from Orange, Alsatis or even BT to another company you keep your own personal email address and it has a more professional look to it.
Single page hosting is generally only suitable for a personal web page. As you want to show more information about your services, products, perhaps prices, file downloads and customer feedback, something more sophisticated and complex is required, perhaps involving a database.
The server takes care of your website, email, a database if needed and any storage required.
We can talk through your requirements, decide with you what is needed and put it into place for you.
What does it cost?
Basic hosting of website and email starts from €10 per month. If your site will require lots of space it will cost more but we can discuss this to decide what you need and provide a quote.
Having your own domain name will also require you to pay an annual fee for the name to a registrar. Again, we can arrange this for you.
